Saphya Council at the GDoC Expo
Interactive Entertainment Associate Saphya Council presents, “Know Your Music Copy Rights: Work-for-hire vs. Licenses” virtually during the Game Devs of Color Expo. Saphya gives an introduction to copyright law in the music context, walking through sample clauses from real work-for-hire contracts and license agreements, and compares the copyright interests in each. She also discusses the case brought by Halo composers Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori against Microsoft, for unclaimed royalties from their work on the Halo series soundtrack.
