New Copyright Board Takes Slow But Steady Approach
IP Litigation and Trademark Partner Craig Whitney is quoted in the article, “New Copyright Board Takes Slow But Steady Approach” published by Law360. The article discusses the effectiveness of the U.S. Copyright Office's newly implemented small claims court (CBB), which has been in operation for less than a year. The CBB's first final determination was issued in February and was a dismissal following the parties' settlement. Craig is quoted saying, "The CCB does seem to be developing more or less as advertised. Claimants are filing claims, some respondents are opting out, others are not, and we'll likely see more final determinations in the near future. At a minimum, the first determination that [was] just issued provides no reason to be concerned about the process."
