Partner Ronald Minkoff Installed as Vice President of the New York County Lawyers Association
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, members of the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) installed Ronald C. Minkoff as Vice President at the organization’s 2023 Annual Meeting.
The New York County Lawyers Association is one of the oldest and most prominent bar associations in New York. It was founded in 1908 because existing bar associations excluded some lawyers from membership due to their race, gender, ethnicity, and religion. Throughout its history, the NYCLA has included all who wish to join and their focus has been the active pursuit of legal system reform. A main focus of the organization is to apply its knowledge and experience in the field of law to the promotion of the public good, and to arrange for the provision by its members of free legal services for indigent, low income and other persons in need. They encourage diversity throughout the legal profession and ensured access to justice for all. Additionally, the NYCLA has Task Forces and publishes reports highlighting issues of special concern to the public and legal community.
Ron is quoted saying, “I’m truly honored to be elected Vice President of the New York County Lawyers’ Association, historically New York’s most inclusive and diverse bar association. I’m excited to continue working with this amazing leadership group, and with the wonderful Adrienne Koch as the new President, on issues that are of vital importance to our membership and our legal system: judicial independence, proper compensation for our 18-b lawyers, access to justice for the poor and middle class, and expanding our growing pro bono program. I urge people to join us!”
In addition to becoming Vice President of the NYCLA, he is Co-Chair of the NYCLA’s Task Force on Professionalism and was previously the NYCLA Treasurer. Ron is on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association and a member of several Bar Ethics Committees, including the Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct (COSAC) and the Committee on Attorney Professionalism of the New York State Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services.
Ron is a partner and chair of Frankfurt Kurnit’s Legal Ethics & Professional Responsibility practice group as well as a partner in the Litigation practice group.
